This is the tumblr for my weekly radio show, Thought Crime Spree. I play metal, drone, post-rock, long form composition, as often as I'm able to broadcast. Stay tuned for posts related to new metal, old metal, things that I like, and discussion about about songs, albums, and artists.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Pig Destroyer has a new EP! It’s called Mass & Volume. This should be great news for anyone, except that the music contained within these two songs has absolutely nothing in common with Pig Destroyer’s music. The first track “Mass” is a 19-minute drone, of all things. I’m sure I’m not the only one scratching my head at this. The second piece, “Volume” is a doom-style song that’s pretty fantastic, if you ask me. Bonus - the EP’s proceeds will go towards the college fund of Katie Egan, daughter of the late great Pat Egan, director of sales for Relapse Records. In addition to showing us that Pig Destroyer can do the experimental stuff just as well as they do their normal deathgrind, Mass & Volume has some pretty amazing cover art. Check it out above. Mass and Volume is available for digital download at http://patlapse.bandcamp.com/album/mass-volume.
Going to go crank this and the Natasha EP (Pig Destroyer’s other Sludge/Drone album) and go find a dry spot to skate....
